Saturday is always the BIG day for San Diego Comic Con, as it’s the day where most of the upcoming high profile movies get their very first trailers released. Most of the time they’re kept behind closed doors and only end up being leaked online through some potato quality video, but this year we got official versions of a lot of them released online almost immediately. Here are the best ones:
Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman was one of the standout characters in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, so I was pretty excited for her solo movie. After watching this trailer, I really can’t wait to see this movie and watch Diana kick all kinds of ass in WW1. Also, there’s color in a DCEU movie?! Whaaatt???
Justice League
I’m going to be honest. BvS didn’t get me all that excited for Justice League next year. This trailer though did get me excited, since the movie definitely seems to be more fun and enjoyable than BvS was. Even though I’m excited for the movie, I do still have my reservations and am going to keep my expectations tempered. Let’s just hope the League kicks some ass in a good movie next year.
The LEGO Batman Movie
If you thought the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie was funny as hell, then you’ll probably think this one is even funnier. Michael Cera’s Robin is totally the highlight of this trailer and was much funnier than I expected him to be. “Come on Batman, let’s get groovin’!”
Doctor Strange
Marvel debuted a brand new trailer for this fall’s Doctor Strange, and it’s even more of a mind trip than the first one was. There’s a lot more magic and Inception-esque world bending going on here, meaning this movie will be a must see in IMAX. Also, the way the cape attaches itself to Strange is just badass.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
The Harry Potter series is always going to be dear to my heart, so I’m pretty excited for this upcoming spinoff/prequel to come out. We actually get to see some of the titular beasts in the trailer in addition to getting a better idea of the wizard world that exists in New York. Get your wands ready Potter fans. The time has almost come..
Kong: Skull Island
It’s been a while since we got a movie about King Kong, the eighth wonder of the world. The newest one, Kong: Skull Island, certainly looks to be taking things in a bit of a darker direction just based off of this trailer and I’m loving it. The trailer is light on the actual ape himself, but the fleeting glimpses of him that we get show that he’s huge and is going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Blair Witch
The Blair Witch Project kickstarted the found footage movie genre back in 1999 and scared plenty of people who thought the movie was real. Looking back on the movie, it’s pretty bad and boring as hell, with the ending being the only real scary part of the movie. 17 years later we’re getting a proper sequel to it (most people like to pretend the sequel that came out in 2000 doesn’t exist), and it looks pretty fucking scary and horrifying. I don’t tend to watch horror movies, but this one is definitely on my list to watch.
