I Successfully Made It To The Top Of Felwinter’s Peak

By: Tyler Miller

After close to 100 deaths, I finally conquered Destiny’s hardest jumping puzzle yet: Felwinter’s Peak. What at first appears to be just window decoration (and a very pretty one at that) is really an imposing and frustrating beast that holds a Dormant SIVA Cluster at its highest point.

Now it wouldn’t have been so hard if I was able to double jump my way up to the top, but since Feltwinter’s Peak is a social space, you’re forced to do this in third person and without the ability to double jump. On top of that, Destiny has some wonky physics that’ll have you bounce backwards instead of in the direction you want to go if you jump on the wrong piece of land the wrong way, leading to multiple deaths as you plummet down to the bottom of the mountain. Now these deaths wouldn’t be that bad if the checkpoint system spawned you where you died or close to it every time. Instead, it either puts you all the way back at the bottom or just much farther down than you where about 95% of the time.

I can’t lie though, making it to the top sure was satisfying, albeit annoying. In addition to getting that SIVA Cluster, you also get a pretty nice view of the social space down below and the surrounding area. Bungie better not decide to put Xür up here though one weekend. I don’t want to have to spend two hours trying to reach him again.
