The Gears of War franchise is one of the most important ones that Xbox has, so it’s presentation at E3 this year is a bit disappointing. It started off with a trippy cinematic trailer for Gears 5 focusing on Kait, and then transitioned into the announcement of the game’s release date. Gears 5 will be coming out September 10th. Unfortunately we didn’t get anymore gameplay footage during the presentation.
We then got the announcement of a new mode for the game called Escape. It’s a 3-player co-op mode where you and your teammates have to infiltrate an enemy hive, set a bomb, and then get out alive. It seems like it could be fun, but we got a CG trailer instead of gameplay for the announcement.
Last but not least was the reveal of gameplay for Gears POP! Now this game could be good, but it just doesn’t look like it’ll be anything that sets the world on fire with its release.
