Day 3 on Destiny Island
Today when I started up the game and stepped out of my domicile, I realized two things. First, that it wasn’t raining like it was yesterday, so the island looked far more lively. Second, that I had an actual house!
It’s a quaint little place right now with not much in the way of furniture, but I’m more than happy with it. Tom Nook did a good job with the place. It actually looks like it’s worth the 98,000 bells that I owe him for the upgrade. How long will it take me to pay it off and upgrade my house again? Who knows honestly. I’m not in a rush to do it right now. I just want to enjoy what I currently have and make it look like a place I can live in.
Once I got over the excitement of having an actual house, I checked in with Tom to see what he needed me to do. He told me that both him and Timmy were talking about how they want to create a store on the island, so I’ve been tasked with gathering a number of different materials to make this happen. They need 30 pieces of each kind of wood and 30 pieces of iron ingot. Not too difficult, but it’ll take some time.

While that’s an important task, it’s not as important as me selling the fruit I got from Rachel’s island yesterday to get some money. So I did that first, and then also bought some stuff for my home and used my Nook Miles to increase my storage space. More space to pick up random stuff!
Before I could get to gathering materials for the store building effort, I had one more thing I needed to do: meeting my new resident Blathers. He seems like a pretty cool owl so far, even if it’s odd how he requests insects and can tell me all about them, yet he’s afraid of them.

Come on, get over your fears Blathers! You have a job to do! Anyway, he gave me the recipe for a vaulting pole and a shovel (which I already had thanks to Rachel), and then asked that I donate 15 different specimen to him including a fossil in order for the museum to begin being built.
So what did I do? I promptly ran back to my house and gave him every creature that I caught yesterday.

Or at least the ones that he would take from me. All the others got sold for some quick and easy money. With that being done I went to work on getting a fossil from the northern part of my island.
I forgot that since I had never been to this part of the island, it was covered in weeds. They can’t be left standing of course, so I cleaned up as many as I could and got some fossils in the process. With all that being done and donated to Blathers, I now have to wait for my museum to be completely built. I’m excited to see it!
With my job for Blathers taken care of, all that was left for me to do was gather materials for the store. Getting the wood was easy as pie, but the iron ingot… That’s a different story. I already had some ingot pieces, but I can only get some many materials from the different stones on the island at once. Right now I’m sitting at about 12 ingot pieces, so I probably won’t have the full 30 until tomorrow if I’m lucky. I wouldn’t be surprised if I didn’t have them all until Tuesday. Again, no rush though.
Oh I forgot! There’s one more thing! While I was running around trying to get materials for the store, I came across a new person that washed up on my shores.

A little birdie named Gulliver was laid out as if he just came from a crashed boat. When I tried talking to him, he said he needed some time and kept saying some weird things that I couldn’t make sense out of. Maybe he’ll be ready to talk some tomorrow.Â
