Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #3

Day 4 on Destiny Island

It’s a bright and sunny day on Destiny Island today which means that some good things are bound to happen! The museum is officially in the process of being built, Iggly and Shari have houses now, and… there’s someone new here today?!

I was shocked to see a brand new person set up shop right in the plaza of my island, so naturally running up to him was the first thing I had to do. His name is Leif and he’s all about plants. I don’t know how long he’s going to be here, but I did get myself a couple things from him that I intend to use at some point in the future.

Seeing Leif then reminded me to check and see if Gulliver was still laid out on my shore. Sadly he wasn’t there and is nowhere to be found. Did he wake up and realize where he was? Or did Tom Nook drag him away and hide him somewhere so that he can beat some money out of him? It’s all a mystery right now, but I’m hoping that the guy is okay wherever he is.

With those things taken care of, I set to work on gathering iron ingot for the creation of the island’s store. As expected, I didn’t get enough to meet the requirement. Luckily I remembered that I had a Nook Miles ticket that I could use to go to another island. So I ran right on over to the airport and flew off to uncharted territory to pillage it for resources.

Time to go grab some resources

The island was full of stuff for me to gather. I got myself some weeds to sell, flowers, coconut trees, and the iron ingot that I came for. Unfortunately I only got enough to hit 27 pieces, just shy of the 30 that I need. Looks like I’ll be finishing up this task tomorrow. By far the biggest and best thing that I managed to get from the island was a brand new resident!

I met this very pretty bird named Celia who was all by herself here! She seems like a really sweet and innocent person, so I invited her over to my island. There’s no ETA for when she’ll be on Destiny Island, but I’m real excited for her to come and make her mark. I have to think about where I want to set her up. It’s something I didn’t think about in the moment, but I’ll take some time throughout the day to brainstorm something.

One thing I have been curious about lately is whether or not I can move my residents’ homes later in the game. As it stands right now, my resident home placement has been seemingly permanent, so these decisions are real big ones. It’d be nice if I could move people around once I have more space on my island open to me and the ability to terraform.

Once I got back to my island, I planted my coconut trees on the beaches and then rounded out the day with me making my house feel a bit more homely. I went in and set up some decor, and also made myself a wooden fence around the house. I couldn’t help but smile like a kid looking at how my home looks when I finished everything. It’s not much, but it’s something and I’m proud of.

It may not be much, but it’s home!
