Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #4

By: Tyler Miller

Days 5 & 6 on Destiny Island

The journal returns! I wanted to write an entry yesterday, but not enough happened in the game to warrant it. Combined with today’s play session though, we have some exciting developments!

Let’s go back to yesterday first. Yesterday I was greeted with the news that my museum had been built, so naturally I hurried over there to see what it was all about. I have to say that the museum is so much cooler than I thought it was going to be! I explored each exhibit and was simply blown away by how awesome it all looks.

Blathers really outdid himself when he was making the museum. I’m really looking forward to filling out the museum with more donations and making it more complete.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get enough iron ingots yesterday to start building the island’s store. The rocks on my island just refused to cooperate with me and deliver what I needed. This led me to just wrap things up and hope that I had better luck today. Well when I started playing today, the first thing I went to do was gather more ingots. All I needed was one more measly piece, but the rocks just refused to give me what I needed. It was like they had an agenda against me and planned to screw me over.

Since the rocks were being annoying, I scrounged up enough Nook Miles to get a ticket to another island and took a flight to try and get what I needed. The rocks on this island were more forgiving and gave me enough ingots to push me over the 30-piece quota. It only took two extra days, but I finally got it done! While here I also got some more coconut trees and also some cherry trees to plant back on Destiny Island. I also met a new person named Alfonso and invited them to live on Destiny Island. When they’ll arrive is beyond me, especially since Cynthia still hasn’t popped up yet.

Once I made it back to my island, I decided to plant my brand new trees first before doing anything else. During this planting process I came across Gulliver sprawled out on the shore again!

I went to talk to him a few times and he kept spewing out gibberish, but this I decided to keep on talking to see how long he would do it. Much to my surprise, he actually woke up and explained his situation to me! It makes me think that if I had just kept talking to him a few more times the other day, then I would’ve achieved this result back then.

Anyway, he told me that he needed some communication parts for his phone so that he could contact his friends. They were easy enough to find, so it looks like he’ll be getting picked up sometime soon. I’m not sure if he’ll be there tomorrow, or how soon he’ll pop back up again once he does leave. What I am sure about is that he’s an interesting character.

Last but not least, I finally donated all my iron ingot pieces so that the store could finally be created. Of course I was tasked with choosing its placement on the island, so I set it up right next to the main plaza. Some trees had to be cut down for this happen, but it’s all part of the overall dream. I envision my real important stores all being in a relatively close vicinity to the plaza, so that’s why it had to be placed there. It’ll be some time before I see my vision fully come to life, but the seeds are being planted.

After the store’s placement was chosen, I headed back to my house and noticed a present flying in the air, so I shot it down. Would you believe that this present had 5 iron ingots in it?! Where was this when I needed it the past few days?! Of course it would appear when I’ve already searched all over the place and gone to other islands to get what I needed. At least I have a few extra pieces I guess.

With all this hard work done, I’m looking forward to seeing what kinds of items the store offers me. I’m hoping there’s some real cool stuff in there. I also wonder what Tom Nook is going to need me to do next around the island. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow!
