Day 9 on Destiny Island
Today’s play session was a pretty short one. I didn’t do much in the way of moving things forward on the island, but that’s fine with me!
My FaceTime play session with my friend probably isn’t going to happen this weekend due to them being in the process of getting ready to move. That’s a bit disappointing because I was excited to show them what a typical play session in the game is like. It’ll just make it all the more exciting though when I do finally get to show them since the island will have progressed more by then.
What happened today? Well let’s see. Mabel’s here and selling some clothes, so I had to jump at the opportunity to get some new digs. For the time being she’ll only be on the island for a few days out of the week. Once she’s built up a larger customer base she’ll stay on the island permanently. I’m definitely looking forward to the day when that happens!

I didn’t just get clothes for myself though. Me being the nice guy that I am, I also got Iggly some activewear sweatpants. He’s always talking about doing exercises and working out, so I figured it would be a nice gift to him. I love that adorable, chubby penguin and I wanted to treat him to something nice. When I gave it to him he said that it’s not something he would normally wear, but he was still appreciative of the gifts. Hopefully he does end up wearing them and liking them more than he initially seemed to.

With my random act of kindness for the day done, I went to Tom Nook so that we could hold a ceremony for the opening of the store since we didn’t do that yesterday. We can’t just let a momentous occasion like that go by with no fanfare! Afterwards I asked him what he needed me to do first in regards to setting up homes for the new residents. That ended up being setting up a bridge so that we could have more space to build homes on the island, as well as be able to more easily travel. Makes sense to me! I actually had basically had all the materials needed to make the bridge already, so I knocked that out real quickly and set up the bridge.

The next thing that the big boss needed me to do was to choose where the homes of the new residents would be, and then make different pieces of furniture for each one. This is a huge responsibility, so I’ll be doing this tomorrow. I could easily have done it today, but I prefer to take the game slowly and work bit by bit on things, as opposed to grinding away at building the island up.
And that’s what today’s play session really consisted of! As of today, I’ve been playing the game for just over a week and I have to say that I’ve been really enjoying it. I had no interest in the game before it came out, but then I kept seeing post lots of cool stuff on Twitter and thought that the game looked super cute and fun. But I kept going back and forth on whether or not I actually wanted to get it because it’s really not the type of game that I would ordinarily play.
I’m happy that I eventually decided to just give in and take a chance on the game because it’s real fun. Sure my island isn’t anything special just yet, and it probably won’t be for a while. It’ll get there in time though and I have no problem taking my time to get there. I’m playing at my own pace and getting what I want out of it each day, and that’s all I can really ask for.
