Day 10 on Destiny Island
Today’s time on Destiny Island was pretty productive. I spent a lot of time working on the task of setting up new homes for our future residents, and I also met my new best friend in the game!
Just as every day starts off, before performing whatever my task for the day is, I checked in with all my shopkeepers to see what new items they had for me to purchase. Nook’s Cranny had a nice cushion that will go real nicely with a sofa that I got from a floating present today, so I snagged that in a hurry. Mabel was also still here, so I got myself some clothes from her too. And I can’t forget to always check in with the Nook Stop to get my free 300 Nook Miles for the day.
Daily errands done, it was time to start placing these new homes. I placed the first one in between my house and Shari’s. This may end up being the last house that I put on this part of the island for the time being because I want to put more of the island’s future stores here since this is where the main plaza is. And in my vision for the island, all of the stores are nearby the main plaza to provide easy access for any visitors you may stop by.

This first house required a couple different indoor and outdoor items, and they weren’t that difficult to make. Some of them I actually already had the resources for. I unfortunately didn’t have enough clay to make a pot, and I didn’t get enough from the rocks on my island. That’s partially my fault because I may have accidentally destroyed some of them… So due to my lack of clay, it was time to fly off to another island to get what I needed. I gotta say that I really like that I can do that whenever I need to (provided I have enough Miles to get a ticket). It’s a nice way to allow me to still progress and not have to wait a full day for resources to stock up again, only to possibly still not get the amount that I need.
On this new island, I met a rabbit named Gabi. And oh my gosh, I love her already! She’s absolutely adorable and full of lots of energy. Just talking to her was making me get more excited and bouncy. Of course I just had to invite her to my island, but get this. She already applied to come live on the island! She’s probably one of the people that I’m making a house for, and that makes me extremely happy. When she gets on the island, the two of us are going to be best friends for sure. Sorry Iggly, but you have some competition now.

Thankfully this island provided me with more than just a new friend. I got the clay that I needed and bounced on back to Destiny Island, ready to make my pot and complete the preparation of the first house. Next up: preparing the second house. I already knew where this one was going to go since I cut down some trees to make space for it yesterday, so placing it wasn’t a problem at all. This house also required some items that I already had the materials for, which was great! I didn’t have the materials for everything though.
One thing that I needed for this house was a windflower wreath. All the windflowers on my island are on the upper levels of the northern end. I’ve never been up there before, but there’s a first time for everything right? So I made my ladder, climbed on up, and was met with hundreds of weeds in addition to the windflowers. I forgot that the weeds were there since I never came up here in all my time on the island.

After quickly gathering the windflowers that I needed, I set to pulling up all the weeds. Boy did that take some time! It was calming though, so I didn’t get annoyed or bored at any point in the process. It may have taken some time, but it eventually got done and all the weeds were sold. Now my island is completely free of weeds! Thank the heavens!
Now that the second house was done, all that was left was the third house. Aside from cutting down some trees and gathering some wood for the items that house required, preparing that house went off without a hitch.

Tom Nook rewarded all my hard work with 50 pieces of fencing which I’m very happy with! I would’ve liked this when I made a makeshift fence out of log stakes for my house, but I’ve grown to like how they look with my house, so I won’t change them any time soon.
I hope that the new people like the placement of their homes. It required a good amount of thought and planning to set them up so it’ll be a bummer if they don’t like it. In my mind though, these placements are temporary since I may switch them around in the future once I’m able to move people’s homes.

More importantly, I really hope that Gabi is one of these new people! Please let that be the case, and please let her house be the one that’s right next to mine!
