Day 11 on Destiny Island
Oh boy guys! Today was by far the most productive session I’ve had in the game so far. There’s so much to talk about. New residents, home rearrangements, a lot of DIY work, and so much more! Let’s talk about it all!
Right from the jump, Tom Nook dropped three bombs of news. Not only is Alfonso now a resident on the island, but Blathers is doing a stamp rally for the rest of the month, and Tom himself is running a DIY customization session. That’s a lot to take in before I even start doing anything, but the more the merrier. And right when I thought that was all of the new stuff for the day, I see another new person just walking around the main plaza.

Naturally I had to see who this person was, and their name was Harvey. I call him Harvey the Hippie because that’s just what he is; a dog that’s a hippie. The alliteration of “Harvey the Hippie” also can’t be passed up. Anyway, he was stopping by just to check out the island, and invited me to come by his island. It was nice of him to invite me, but I had other things to do first before heading over there.
The next stop for me was checking in with Blathers to see what the stamp rally is all about. Turns out that there are stamp posts installed in each of the exhibits, and when you interact with them, you get a stamp for that given room. Get three stamps for an exhibit and you’re rewarded with the plaque in the museum that signifies that exhibit. It really didn’t take me that long to do, but the reward is nice enough. You can bet that I displayed them on the wall in my house.

Stamp rally completed, I decided to check in with Alfonso and see how he was liking the island so far. The poor guy has so many boxes to unpack that he spent the whole day doing it, but he seemed to like what he saw of the island from my conversation with him. Tomorrow I’ll check in with him to see how he’s feeling.
Two tasks down, a bunch more to go! The big task of the day was going to Tom Nook for his DIY customization session. He broke down how customization works to me and just what I can do with it, and I was intrigued. Once he gave me the DIY recipe for a wardrobe (now I can finally make these!) and had me practice customizing with it, I was wowed and got as giddy as a kid in a candy shop. Being able to customize items is such a cool feature! It’s gonna open up so many creative possibilities for me in the future and I’m just dying to customize a lot of things as a start to really build the island up more.

With my newly customized wardrobe in my pocket, I immediately ran home to place it somewhere in the room. This required me to stop and rearrange my room up some, but it was worth it. The room looks great now with the wardrobe!
At this point I remembered that Tom said the new homes would have a sign on them saying who was moving into them, so I wanted to check them out and see if my girl Gabi was one of them.

I’m so happy to say that she is! Seeing her name pop up on my screen made me scream out of excitement. I’m hoping that she moves in tomorrow.
Before I could get there though, Iggly stopped me and told me about this idea that him and Shari came up with to decorate the island so that we can attract more people to live there. The two of them felt that I should be the one to place the first decoration which is a… manhole cover. It’s nothing extravagant, but it’s the thought that counts. I did repay Iggly’s kindness a short time later. While roaming the island, I came across a lost item that belonged to him. Turns out it was his workout journal. To repay me, he gave me a sweatshirt of his that actually doesn’t look that bad.
Most of the day’s tasks were done by now, but there was still a little more to do. I needed to go to Harvey’s island and see what it looked like. To my surprise, it’s actually a quaint and chill place that has birds! I wish I could live there!

He showed me his Photopia setup and explained it all to me, and I’m into it. I’ll probably come back here at a later date with some villagers so that I can take some cool pictures with them.
The final task of the day was one that came to me in the spur of the moment. I decided that I was going to finish paying off my home loan and ask for an upgrade. I had 91,000 Bells, and the hot item of the day at Nook’s Cranny was a water bucket that they were buying for 2,200 Bells. I did some math and decided to make 10 buckets so that I could have sell them and have enough to pay off the loan, while still having some money left over.
So I got to work on that and it took a bit of time to collect all the wood, but I eventually got the job done. Now I’ll be waking up tomorrow to a brand new house! I’m not sure how much space it’s going to give me, but I’m sure I’ll be spending a good amount of time tomorrow redecorating the place.

At this point, all my tasks for the day were completed. I got the Shocked reaction from Iggly (he really must not want to lose his best friend position to Gabi), and then donated a butterfly to Blathers. Upon doing so, he told me that they’ll be opening up an art exhibit soon, so I’m looking forward to that. No idea how soon he’s talking about though.
It was a long day on Destiny Island, but it was a productive and fun one. So much got accomplished and the fruits of my labor are paying off more and more. We’ll see what awaits me tomorrow.
