Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #9

Day 11 on Destiny Island

Yesterday was a big day for me on Destiny Island. There was a lot to do and it took a good amount of time to get it all done. After yesterday’s jam-packed play session, it’s a bit of a relief that today was more low-key and relaxed.

One might think that the biggest news of today is that there’s someone suspicious roaming the islands, or that my house is now a bit bigger and more spacious. But they would be wrong to think those things, because while those are huge deals, they pale in comparison to the most important development on the island today. What am I talking about?

GABI IS ON THE ISLAND! I REPEAT, GABI IS ON THE ISLAND! I thought that she might end up being the last person to move onto the island, but she’s here today and I couldn’t be happier. It was such a joy to see her when I stopped by her house today. She’s unpacking today so I won’t be able to really do much of anything with her, but come tomorrow I’m going to be hanging out with my best friend a lot.

I guess I should talk about the second most important development today, that being my new house upgrade. It didn’t add too much extra space for me to work with, but it added enough that I was able to make the house a bit more inviting.

I set up my couch and TV in their own little corner, and then added a table and chairs where people can sit and eat food. The house is probably going to have this setup for a little while, so I wanted it to be something I would be comfortable with for the long haul.

The final major development is the arrival of Redd the fox. Turns out that he’s the sketchy person that Tom Nook was talking about in the morning announcements. He wanted to sell me a glowing painting for a ridiculous amount of Bells (498,000 to be exact), which I immediately shut down.

Redd got some sense and dropped the price to something more reasonable, so I snagged that up so I could give it to Blathers. I’ve heard some stuff about Redd over the past few weeks, so I’m going to be careful whenever I go to buy something from him. Getting scammed is not something that I’m a fan of.

Blathers was more than happy to get the painting though, so we’ll be getting a museum expansion soon! Having an art exhibit will make it feel like an actual museum, so I want to fill it out with some nice art. Together, myself and Blathers will have a museum that’ll be the talk of the town!

I did check in with my other islanders today. Even though Gabi’s here and she’ll be getting a lot of attention from me, I can’t ignore everyone else. Alfonso arrived yesterday and he’s enjoying his time on the island so far. He even gave me a water pump as a gift for being so friendly to him! Shari’s really wanting a crucian carp, so I offered to catch one for her. That wasn’t able to happen today because all my fishing attempts were for naught, but maybe it’ll happen tomorrow. Don’t let hope die Shari!

And then there’s my boy Iggly. I gifted him a protein bottle shaker that I bought from Nook’s Cranny and he was ecstatic. It’s always nice to make my people happy with a nice gift.

And that was the day! It was far more chill than yesterday was, which is a welcome contrast to the eventful day that I had yesterday. Tomorrow will probably bring the arrival of my final new resident, and I’ll be able to spend way more time with Gabi. It’s shaping up to be another fun one!
