Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #10

Day 13 on Destiny Island

Two slow days in a row over here on Destiny Island. Honestly, I’m not complaining one bit. We just went through the storm, so it’s expected that we’ll be having calmer days for the foreseeable future.

Even though not much happened today, there are some things that are in the process of happening! The museum is being closed today so that they can expand it and create the art exhibit. I won’t be able to see how it looks until tomorrow, but it’s a development that I’m excited about. Then there’s the news that the Resident Services tent is going to be upgrading itself into a more permanent building! I guess Tom Nook got tired of being stuck in that tiny tent while everyone else was getting nice buildings to call their homes. That upgrade will be happening tomorrow, so I’ll have to wait until Friday to see how it looks. It makes me wonder if Tom is going to be walking around the island tomorrow since the tent will be gone. He most likely just won’t be around at all.

Then there’s some news from Mabel. She chatted with Tom about setting up a shop on the island and he told her to ask me for help, because I’m clearly the only person around here that can give people spots to call their own. There definitely isn’t anybody else on the island who can do it, like the person who even started the island. They’re too busy standing around drinking soda and reading.

Sorry for the tangent. I was more than happy to help Mabel though, so her shop is going to be right next to Nook’s Cranny. Once that’s done being made and she moves on in with her sister, the center of the island will start to look more like a real plaza. It’s the start of something new and amazing!

Other than those updates, there wasn’t much that I got caught up in today. I did do a lot of fishing and bug catching to earn Nook Miles and Bells by selling them. Speaking of Bells, I have a plan to deposit 2,000 Bells in my savings account everyday. The reason being that I want to build this money up to use for paying off my current home loan. If I build that up at the same time as the money in my pocket, I should be able to pay it off in a fair amount of time. It won’t be done lickity split, but it’ll happen sooner than it would’ve before.

As for my residents, they’re all doing well. Celia finally arrived today, so she’s spending the day unpacking. I actually caught Alfonso doing the most adorable thing on the beach when I was collecting shells.

This was adorable to see in motion

He was running back and forth on the beach with the biggest smile on his face. I couldn’t help but record him doing it because it was too cute and it made me laugh.

Even with how cute that was, it doesn’t hold a candle to my bestie Gabi. She was the very first person I came across on the island when I left my house today, which I took as a sign that I just had to talk to her as much as possible. And that’s exactly what I did! She wanted to learn some more about me, so I told her that my favorite drink is water. If I wasn’t afraid of annoying her I would’ve kept on chatting with her over and over, but I don’t want to be that guy. I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about her and letting her know more about me. She is my bestie after all!
