Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #11

By: Tyler Miller

Day 15 on Destiny Island

I took a day off from the journal, but we’re back today! Yesterday I didn’t really play much because there wasn’t really anything going on in the game. The museum reopened, but the new Resident Services building and the Able Sisters stores were still in the process of being built. Now that they’re finally opened, the island is taking a major turn towards progress.

The creation of the Able Sisters store is going to introduce a litany of clothing options for me to sort through. I took a look at what they had to offer today and was amazed by everything that was in stock. Everything looks real nice and I wanted to buy everything, but I don’t have an unlimited amount of money or space to put it all. And that’s not even mentioning the Custom Design kiosk that lets me get designs that other people have made!

Then there’s the Resident Services building and everything that it brings to the table. Due to the amount of work that Tom Nook has now, Isabelle has come to the island and will be working alongside the man to help him out. She’ll be taking care of anything regarding residents and island support.

Initially I wasn’t going to do anything with her today, but I changed try mind and decided that I wanted to change my island’s tune to “Dearly Beloved.” For those who don’t know, that’s the song that plays on the main menu of every Kingdom Hearts game. The island is called Destiny, so the island tune just had to be related to Kingdom Hearts as well.

I checked in with Tom afterwards to see what he’s doing now. His responsibilities revolve mainly around construction on the island. What this means is that I can now move buildings around on the island, build bridges and inclines, or even destroy buildings. This opens up the door for a litany of possible ways that I can now rearrange and construct my island! I still haven’t settled entirely on how I want the island to be set up and what I want it to look like overall, so I’m not going down that path just yet. It’ll be some time before I have the vision fully fleshed out in my mind before I’m ready and confident enough to do that. Rest assured that the gears are turning!

Tom also told me about his overall goal for the island: to have K.K. Slider come and perform on the island. He has a three step plan for achieving that goal, and the first step is bringing more visitors to the island. To being accomplishing this, Tom gave me a campsite kit to place somewhere on the island, but I honestly forgot about it within five minutes of him giving it to me. I may remember it when I play again tomorrow, but I might not.

There’s so many cool things here!

After chatting with Tom, I went to the Nook Stop to get my Miles for the day, but then saw that the items I can redeem Miles for has been expanded exponentially! The items that they have are so cool! If it wasn’t for the fact that I didn’t have enough Miles, I would’ve gotten more things than I did. I’m going to be grinding up Miles for sure so that I can collect each of those different things.

Once I stepped out of Resident Services, my day was basically done. I was greeted by the sight of Gabi doing yoga in the main plaza which obviously drew my attention for a long period of time. That’s my bestie guys! Please don’t hate me!

Let’s get back to reality. There are so many more things that I can do now, but I didn’t want to jump into any of it today. I want to jump into it fresh tomorrow and being to tackle it one bit at a time, just like I have been for the past two weeks. So I’ll take the night to think about what I want to do and go from there. The real grind is about to begin!
