Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Journal #12

Day 31 on Destiny Island

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since there was a new entry in my Animal Crossing: New Horizons journal series, and there are a couple reasons for that. Initially, I just didn’t have much happening in the game. I wasn’t really making any progress and was just doing daily chores, which really isn’t anything to write a whole blog post about. The bigger reason though is that there’s been a lot going on in the world right now, what with protests happening worldwide against police brutality in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. Even though I was still playing the game, the protests became more of a focus for me and I didn’t feel like progressing my island or writing a blog post.

In the past few days though, I finally decided to start moving forward in the game and making some moves. It honestly feels good to be back and I’m excited to finally talk about my time with this game some more. So with all that recap out of the way, let’s get to talking about how things are going on Destiny Island!

Since my last entry, I paid off my home loan and upgraded my house again! Now I have a back room that I’ve made my bedroom, with the front room being the living room.

My character is fresh to death and happy with his new room

I haven’t truly made my bedroom my own just yet, but I’m making steps towards it. The next loan I have to pay off is close to 400,000 Bells and I’m more than halfway there! That’s one of the my goals that I want to accomplish, hopefully within the next week. Once I have another room for my house, that room is either going to be the bathroom or the kitchen. I haven’t decided yet, but I’ll make that decision when the time comes.

Around the island itself, I’ve been doing a whole lot of my daily chores. Most days would consist of me getting my Nook Miles, checking out what the stores had on sale, gathering fossils and bugs to donate to the museum or sell, and then just cleaning up the island. A lot of menial and boring tasks really.

There were some interesting things that happened regarding visitors of my island. I normally play in the afternoon, so I never see anything of the nighttime events. There have been a few times in the past few weeks where I did play at night, and the first time that I did allowed me to meet Celeste. She’s Blather’s sister and she had come to see just how beautiful the night sky looked on the island. Celeste told me about shooting stars and gave me the recipe for a magic wand as well.

More recently when I played at night, I met a ghost called Wisp. It was absolutely adorable so I had to run over and chat with it. Unfortunately, this caused its spirit to fly away so I had to gather up the pieces. Even though it was even cuter as a tiny little ball, I couldn’t leave Wisp hanging like that, especially since it was my fault. Helping it out got me a new piece of furniture as a reward

I also had two other new visitors stop on by with fun little tasks for me. CJ the influencer who loves fishing came by and challenged me to catch three big fish in a row for his followers. That was such an easy task to do, so I knocked it out in no time, and then proceeded to keep fishing so that I could sell to him and get more money than I would get from the Nooks. The other new visitor was the fashion designer Label. She challenged me to change into a specific outfit theme and gave me two tailors tickets as rewards that.

With it being June now, we have a new event happening this month! Harv the Hippie asked me to come by his island and help him do some anniversary photos for this alpaca couple Reese and Cyrus. I’ve been helping them everyday and it’s been such a fun and cute experience! I love the furniture that they have me use to take their pictures and I’m happy that I’m able to get it all for myself.

Today we had the anniversary party with a bunch of my residents and it was just the cutest thing! Even though the main story for the event is over, I’m going to continue taking their pictures for the rest of the month so that I can try and get all of the furniture that they have available.

As for the main story progress on the island, I finally setup the campsite a few days ago. This brought the ostrich Phil to the island and now he’s my newest resident. He seems like a cool person so far, but I haven’t interacted with him too much.

I’ll feel him out over the coming weeks and see if he’s going to stay on the island or if he’ll get the boot at some point. With the campsite being setup and Phil moving to the island, we’ve now entered the final stages of the plan to get K. K. Slider to come to the island. What I need to do now is to improve the island’s image by making it look nicer and filling it up with more residents. Currently the island has a 1-star rating, so I have to work on bumping that up. We’ll get there soon everyone!

And now we’re all caught up on the past few weeks on Destiny Island! Like I said near the top, it feels good to be doing these journal entries again after such a long break from doing them. Due to the goals that I need to reach now in the game to progress, there might not be daily entries for the foreseeable future because I still don’t want to do posts if there really isn’t anything to talk about. But there shouldn’t be any more breaks as long as this last one was. I hope you all have enjoyed reading these journal entries and continue to read them for as long as I keep doing them.
