This week we got our first PlayStation State of Play for 2024 and it did not disappoint. There were plenty of reveals and announcements for games both big and small, but today I want to talk about my big highlights of the show. From Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin to Death Stranding 2: On The Beach and the announcement of Hideo Kojima’s new IP Physint, there’s a lot to get excited about in today’s video!
At yesterday’s Xbox Developer Direct, MachineGames finally unveiled Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and announced that it’ll be releasing later this year exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
There are a lot of great games set to release in 2024 and I’m excited for a lot of them. If I was to make a list of them all, this post would be extremely long, so I’m trimming it down to the 11 that I’m anticipating the most in 2024. Most of them are big games, some of them are small games, and many of them don’t have solid release dates. What they all have in common though is a perceived level of quality that can’t be denied. With that said, let’s get into it.
Last year was pretty great for Xbox overall and 2024 is looking like it’ll be just as good, if not better. Between great games slated for release this year, new potential additions to Game Pass from Activision Blizzard’s back catalog, and a hardware refresh in the second half of the year, there’s a lot to be excited about so long as Xbox maintains this momentum. Eternights wears its influences on its sleeves and doesn’t try to hide them. Clearly taking plenty of cues from Atlus’ Persona franchise, Eternights strives to distill the strong story and character focus of its inspiration into a smaller package, with an emphasis on romance and action-based combat being its key differentiators. While it does manage to do some things well, it also misses the mark in more ways than one.
