Everything was in place. With Sony choosing not to participate in E3 this year and talk of the next generation of consoles ramping up, the stars had aligned perfectly for Microsoft. They would be the show of E3 that everyone wanted to see and they would be able to kick off the week in a big way. They were even talking it up to be this “show to beat all other shows.” Unfortunately they didn’t do that and treated this year’s conference like any other one.

Tonight at the Final Fantasy VII orchestra, Square Enix announced that the highly anticipated game is releasing on March 3, 2020. They also released a brand new trailer for the game. The footage continues to focus on the bombing mission at the start of the game with some new cutscenes that take place around the same time frame. Maybe we’ll see something else tomorrow for the game at Square Enix’s press conference? Regardless, it’s just great to see this game finally have a release date attached to it. Now it just needs to hold the date.

Deathloop is the name of the next game from Arkane Lyon, one of the teams over at Arkane Studios. The game is a first-person action game where your two characters are are stuck in a loop that resets every time that they die. We didn’t see any gameplay, but if the trailer is indicative of the gameplay, then it’ll be pretty cool to play as well.

Things haven’t been that good for Fallout 76. It launched in a disastrous state, leading to terrible reviews and a loss of trust amongst Bethesda fans. Bethesda Game Studios is aiming to change that though with the release of a new update to the game later this fall titled Wastelanders.

The Gears of War franchise is one of the most important ones that Xbox has, so it’s presentation at E3 this year is a bit disappointing.

First announced under just a code name, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot took to the Xbox stage today to give us a better look at just what the game is. We’ll be playing through the story of the classic anime series with Goku as our main character it seems. Hopefully there’s some deep and fun gameplay to it because there’s already a lot of Dragon Ball Z games where we play through the story of the anime. It looks real pretty and accurate to the anime though, so that’s a plus. It releases next year.

It’s been some time since we got a Lego Star Wars game, so it’s only fitting that we get one more after the final movie in the Skywalker releases. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will let us play through all nine of the movies in one new game when it releases next year.
