Nintendo Switch 2 Review

When the Nintendo Switch was released in 2017, it was a truly revolutionary piece of technology. Not only did it pioneer the hybrid console format, but it also led to the current revitalization of handheld gaming. As the third-best-selling game console of all time, with a total of 152.12 million units sold as of March 2025, the question of how Nintendo would follow up on a nearly perfect device was at the top of everyone’s mind. Nintendo’s answer? Stick with what worked before, but refine it with slight alterations. This focus on refinements makes the Nintendo Switch 2 a vastly superior console when compared to its predecessor, but it also makes for a largely boring new console experience.

It is day 34 and we’ve had a lot of fun in the days since the last entry in my Animal Crossing: New Horizons journal. Let’s skip the preamble and just get right to it!

Day 31 on Destiny Island

Hey everyone! It’s been a while since there was a new entry in my Animal Crossing: New Horizons journal series, and there are a couple reasons for that.

Day 15 on Destiny Island

I took a day off from the journal, but we’re back today! Yesterday I didn’t really play much because there wasn’t really anything going on in the game. The museum reopened, but the new Resident Services building and the Able Sisters stores were still in the process of being built. Now that they’re finally opened, the island is taking a major turn towards progress.

Day 13 on Destiny Island

Two slow days in a row over here on Destiny Island. Honestly, I’m not complaining one bit. We just went through the storm, so it’s expected that we’ll be having calmer days for the foreseeable future.

Day 11 on Destiny Island

Yesterday was a big day for me on Destiny Island. There was a lot to do and it took a good amount of time to get it all done. After yesterday’s jam-packed play session, it’s a bit of a relief that today was more low-key and relaxed.

Day 11 on Destiny Island

Oh boy guys! Today was by far the most productive session I’ve had in the game so far. There’s so much to talk about. New residents, home rearrangements, a lot of DIY work, and so much more! Let’s talk about it all!

Day 10 on Destiny Island

Today’s time on Destiny Island was pretty productive. I spent a lot of time working on the task of setting up new homes for our future residents, and I also met my new best friend in the game!

Day 9 on Destiny Island

Today’s play session was a pretty short one. I didn’t do much in the way of moving things forward on the island, but that’s fine with me!

Days 7 & 8 on Destiny Island

Apologies for no journal entry yesterday! My back was in so much pain that I couldn’t play for too long or even write about what I played. I’m feeling better today though! I didn’t play too much today either because I’m saving a lot of what I want to do for a FaceTime play session with a friend of mine so that they can see what the game is all about, but there’s still enough between yesterday and today’s play sessions to talk about. So let’s talk!
