Microsoft has announced that Contraband has been canceled. The open-world co-op smuggling game developed by Avalanche Studios (the team behind the Just Cause franchise) was first announced in 2021, but received no updates in the years since, so this news isn’t too surprising. As the latest Xbox Game Studios cancellation in recent months though, following the layoffs and cancellations that affected Perfect Dark, Everwild, and more, my feelings on Xbox’s first-party game lineup aren’t too optimistic.
