Xbox Made Its Worst Decision Yet

At Xbox’s business update earlier this year, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer tried to explain the company’s business rationale behind putting four of their first-party titles on other consoles. A key reason he gave for sharing these games with other platforms was that it would allow the company to “invest in maybe future iterations of those or sequels to those, or just other games like that in our portfolio.” One of those games was Hi-Fi Rush, the surprise 2023 hit from Japanese developer Tango Gameworks. Yesterday, the company announced internally that it would be shutting down multiple studios across Tango’s parent company Zenimax Media, and Tango is one of them.

Xbox Should Have A Great 2024

Last year was pretty great for Xbox overall and 2024 is looking like it’ll be just as good, if not better. Between great games slated for release this year, new potential additions to Game Pass from Activision Blizzard’s back catalog, and a hardware refresh in the second half of the year, there’s a lot to be excited about so long as Xbox maintains this momentum. I talk about it all in today’s video.

Starfield Impressions

  • Developer: Bethesda Game Studios
  • Publisher: Bethesda Softworks
  • Available On: Xbox Series X|S, PC
  • Played On: Xbox Series X

Ever since its announcement in 2018, Starfield has been one of my most anticipated games. A brand new IP from Bethesda Game Studios that brings their classic brand of RPGs into outer space was all I needed to hear to be on board with it, and now that it’s here I’ve been trying to sink as much time into it as I possibly can. I’ve only managed to log a solid 25 hours into this massive new adventure and so far I’m enjoying my journey across the stars. That said, there are some key aspects that have left me disappointed.

The Xbox Games Showcase Was Exactly What Xbox Needed

Microsoft just held their double feature Xbox Games Showcase and Starfield Direct, and I’m happy to say that the team easily knocked it out of the park. If your confidence in the future of Xbox was shaky prior to today, now it’s almost certainly stronger than ever before.

Microsoft Dropped The Ball With Their E3 Press Conference

By: Tyler Miller

Everything was in place. With Sony choosing not to participate in E3 this year and talk of the next generation of consoles ramping up, the stars had aligned perfectly for Microsoft. They would be the show of E3 that everyone wanted to see and they would be able to kick off the week in a big way. They were even talking it up to be this “show to beat all other shows.” Unfortunately they didn’t do that and treated this year’s conference like any other one.

Gears Comes Back To E3 In A Weird Way

The Gears of War franchise is one of the most important ones that Xbox has, so it’s presentation at E3 this year is a bit disappointing.

Here’s A New Look At Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

By: Tyler Miller

First announced under just a code name, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot took to the Xbox stage today to give us a better look at just what the game is. We’ll be playing through the story of the classic anime series with Goku as our main character it seems. Hopefully there’s some deep and fun gameplay to it because there’s already a lot of Dragon Ball Z games where we play through the story of the anime. It looks real pretty and accurate to the anime though, so that’s a plus. It releases next year.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Announced

By: Tyler Miller

It’s been some time since we got a Lego Star Wars game, so it’s only fitting that we get one more after the final movie in the Skywalker releases. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga will let us play through all nine of the movies in one new game when it releases next year.
