For the third year in a row, Bethesda is holding its own E3 press conference. The past two years they’ve done this, the show has been a hit, so I’m fully expecting them to do it for the third year in a row. Bring on the games Bethesda!
What I’m Looking Forward To
The Evil Within 2

When The Evil Within launched in 2014, fans ate the game up. With survival horror legend Shinji Mikami behind the game, it scared many and was a success for the team over at Tango Gameworks. It’s been some time since the game came out and the team hasn’t said much since then, so it only makes sense that they would take lid off of the sequel this year, and hopefully release it this October (possibly on Halloween?). I’m not one to play survival horror games, but I would love to see what they’re doing with the series this time around.
Wolfenstein: The New Colossus

No one expected Wolfenstein: The New Order to be as good as it was, but it turned out to be an amazing game. It’s only natural that people would be begging for a sequel. We were teased during last year’s press conference when the name of a possible sequel appeared on screen without a release date, so this is the year for the guys at Machine Games to reveal Wolfenstein: The New Colossus and knock everyone’s socks off once again. This is also another series that I’ve never played, but I would love to hop in now.
Fallout 4 VR

Fallout 4 was my first game in the series and I absolutely loved it. I got lost and completely absorbed in the Commonwealth, turning over every nook and cranny for different quests and items. When Bethesda announced they were working on a full VR version of the game, I became excited at the prospect of becoming even more immersed in the world. I would love to see more of this VR version, and hopefully a release window for it. Take your time with this though Bethesda. No rush at all.
New IP’s

Todd Howard has said that the team over at Bethesda has a number of new games in the works. Elder Scrolls VI is a long ways out, and we just got Fallout 4 not too long ago, so we shouldn’t be seeing a brand new installment in either of those series for a bit. So then that leaves us with these other mysterious games. Rumor has it that one of them is a game called Starfield, a sci-fi open world RPG in the same vein as both of Bethesda’s flagship series’. It’s starting to look like we may see the game this year, a prospect that I’m on board for. We got Prey and Dishonored II within the past couple months, so we won’t be hearing anything big on those fronts. The same goes for Doom as well. With Quake Champions already on the way, that doesn’t leave much that’s unknown or new from Bethesda. Seeing one or two of these new IP’s would be more than welcome.
What I Don’t Want To Happen
For Bethesda To Lose Their Mojo
Bethesda has had two solid press conferences in back to back years. While last year’s wasn’t as exciting as 2015’s, mostly due to the fact that Fallout 4 had already come out, it was still a solid show all around. They know how to put on a good show and not absolutely bore the audience by slowing down the show for too long. I simply want them to keep this good streak going and to not feel like they need to make changes when there really aren’t any that need to be made. Just keep up the good work guys and you’ll have three wins under your belt.
I’m rooting for you guys Bethesda. You all make great games and I’m really looking forward to what you have to show this year. Us fans haven’t been disappointed by you yet, so please don’t let this be the first time you let us down.
